I posted a comment in early spring after my springer spaniel, Libby, became very sick after being on Nutro Natural Choice Senior dry food.  Go to to and do a search on pet food testing and you'll find alot of info.

Following this experience and a few weeks of homemade dog food (nursing her back to health), I also went on a search for the best dogfood I could buy for my dog.  She eats it readily, no gas or vomiting (which she had frequently when on Nutro), and her allergies (foot chewing, etc.) have really diminished.  That's what Nancy Cook, vice president for technical and regulatory affairs for the Pet Food Institute, seems to be doing these days.

When you have watched your three kids cry over their dying puppy, I'll listen to you.  Then we have corn and soy that are usually the cause of overall allergies including ear, itchy feet, skin, loosing hair, and other allergies.  I bet once they figure it out there will be another massive recall with the commercial pet food products again.  This pet food issue is far from over whether it's Nutro or any other commercial pet food.

You probably have not had too many dogs if you don't think that the food causes ear infections.  The FDA and the pet food companies knew about the bad food as early as January.  They are being paid big advertising dollars by pet food companies, so they have to be careful. We do eat before he does and already have him sit and wait for his food.
